Has anybody been to this? Hampton Court Palace has this awesome exhibit called Henry VIII: Heads and Hearts (really more of an interactive event) where visitors can actually participate in the wedding festivities of Henry VIII to Katherine Parr!
There are Tudor gowns and cloaks for everyone to wear – and you must bow or curtsy every time you are in the presence of the King. It is a daily event, and this is the schedule:
11.30am – Welcome to the day of festivities. Are you with the bride or the groom? (30 minutes). Meet at Base Court
12.30pm – Last minute nerves. Will Kateryn follow her head or her heart? (30 minutes). Meet at Clock Court
1.00pm – Help Kateryn choose her wedding dress (30 minutes). Mary II’s Apartments
2.00pm – Join Henry as he celebrates his last hours as a single man (30 minutes). The Undercroft
3.00pm - Courtiers are invited to attend the King in Council – but his new bride also needs your advice (30 minutes). Meet at Base Court
3.30pm – How to dress properly at court (30 minutes). Mary II’s Apartments
Henry VIII and Kateryn will be married in private
4.00pm – Be the first to congratulate the bride and groom (10 minutes). Henry VIII’s Apartments (Great Watching Chamber)
4.10pm – As the day draws to a close, please gather for the final procession of the King and his new Queen (20 minutes). Base Court
This sounds amazing!!! I wish I lived in the UK- gaa! I am so jealous.
I was there in May and saw parts of the event. unfortunately, due to some issues with getting on the wrong train, we arrived at Hamptom Court much later than expected and so in order to see the actual palace, we had to forgo participating in all of the events. From what I could see, it looked like fun!
I went a few months ago, it was really good. Check out the video I made! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oowWePZ-aBc
