The Collegiate Church of St. Mary is located in Warwick and founded in 1123 by Robert de Newburgh, 2nd Earl of Warwick. He established on the site College of a Dean and Canons.
Thomas Beauchamp, 12th Earl of Warwick rebuilt the vestries and chapter houses in 14th century and became a highlight of English Gothic architecture.
One of the treasures of St. Mary’s is the Beauchamp Chapel that was built in 15th century for the tomb of Richard Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick. Lord Robert Dudley was buried here with his second wife, Lettice Knollys. Ambrose Dudley, Robert’s brother, who was the 3rd Earl of Warwick from the second creation of earldom, was buried here as well.
